SUMMARY:
Administers policies relating to all phases of human resources activity. Directs and coordinates human resources activities including: employment, staff compensation, employee relations, benefits, training and employment services. Manages recruitment and job placement activities of club. Maintains all required and appropriate records for employment related matters. Ensures full compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and other standards within scope for the position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must have thorough knowledge of Employment Law
- Brings consistency to company hiring practices by understanding departmental needs, practices, and as needed, training hiring managers on effective and compliant hiring strategies
- Assists hiring managers in caring out such functions as developing sources of quality applicants, scheduling interviews, checking references, backgrounds, and evaluating applicant qualifications
- Recruits, interviews, tests, and selects employees to fill vacant positions
- Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals
- Keeps records of benefits plans participation such as insurance and pension plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting
- Assists management in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment
- Advises management on appropriate resolution of employee relations issues
- Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs
- Prepares and communicates information to employees about benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance
- Provides services to employees to answer their benefit questions, resolve problems related to access to or payment of benefits, orient newly eligible employees, and process enrollment forms, changes, and loan requests. Additionally notifies employees of change in benefit programs, procedures, and government mandated disclosures
- Maintains up to date materials on all Employee Benefits Plans, and reconciles all vendor bills
- Investigates accidents and prepares reports for insurance carrier
- Consults with managers and healthcare professionals to evaluate the need for, development and implement accommodations, return to work, light duty, and other responses for disabled employees
- Conducts wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rate
- Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations
- Meets regularly with employees to listen to concerns and seek solutions to their issues
- Monitors performance to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity with in the club
- Other duties as required or requested
QUALIFICATIONS:
Note: These areas of experience cover all aspects of the position. No one candidate is expected to meet all the qualifications below. However, preference will be given to the candidates based on how well they meet the following qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of 3 years generalist experience
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university: or three years related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred, PHR or HR Certificate
- Must have good communication skills (written/verbal)
- Demonstrates proficiency in MS Office, especially Outlook, Excel, and Word
