TITLE: Distribution Center Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Distribution and Logistics
LOCATION: Miami, FL
REPORTS TO: Distribution Manager (Shipping)
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Exempt/Salaried

PURPOSE:
This job is located in Miami. Provides leadership, management and effective communication with regard to the operation, employees and other operations/DC supervisor and managers. Meets operational and financial objectives.

PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS:
  • Implement department procedures, monitoring to ensure resources are used productively and cost effectively
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of inventory based on department procedures, recommending changes, revisions or deletions as needed
  • Achieve operational goals including cost reduction, productivity, and quality of services
  • Ensure available resources are utilized productively in order to control costs. Accountable for performance
  • Must be able to easily communicate and interact with employees who utilize equipment/facilities (both verbally and via e-mail)
  • Train, evaluate and develop employees. Assist in dealing with employee relation issues that arise. Carry out corrective consultations or disciplinary actions, and recommending further actions if needed
  • Communicate and provide appropriate information on a daily basis to operations managers and other DC managers on business performance, needs, issues, priorities, etc. also ensuring proper paperwork flow

REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:

Note: These areas of experience cover all aspects of the position. No one candidate is expected to meet all the qualifications below. However, preference will be given to the candidates based on how well they meet the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years distribution experience required, shipping exp preferred
  • Previous experience/knowledge of distribution center practices and procedures
  • Leadership, administrative, organizational analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to interact and build strong relationships both internally and externally
  • Strong productivity and process management background
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Time flexibility, ability to work different shifts
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs
  • May be required to work with hazardous materials
  • Must be able to withstand walking and standing for long periods of time on hard surfaces (concrete flooring) on a daily basis
  • Other duties as required by business needs
