TITLE: Tax Director
PURPOSE:
PriceSmart, Inc. is a publicly traded company headquartered in San Diego, which owns and operates U.S.-style membership shopping warehouse clubs in Central America and the Caribbean. At PriceSmart, the in-country controllers are responsible for the day-to-day tax management for their countries and legal entities. The Corporate Tax Department serves as a resource to the controllers by providing tax planning support, tax return support, advisor and project management support, and other day-to-day tax matter advisory support. The Tax Director will be responsible for direct supervision of 3-5 employees based in San Diego and/or in-country and indirect supervision of 1 employee based in-country. The Tax Director's responsibilities are currently allocated among the following categories of projects: • 30% monthly, quarterly, annual tax provision internal review (inclusive of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance), 10-Q or 10-K disclosures, and external auditor reviews; • 20% tax return review and approval inclusive of transfer pricing compliance; • 10% special project in-country such as refund claims, amended returns, or general tax planning; • 30% tax audits, appeals, planning; • 5% general management responsibilities; and, • 5% expatriate compliance and planning matters.
