TITLE: Senior Accountant
DEPARTMENT: Accounting
LOCATION: San Diego, CA
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time/Hourly
PURPOSE:
The Senior Accountant must possess the business and interpersonal acumen and accounting knowledge
necessary to become a change agent within the organization. The ability to manage multiple and diverse projects
in a stressful environment will be essential for success in this position.
Responsible for balancing, reconciling, and recording accounting activity to the corporate general ledger.
Significant interface and communication with business units regarding cash and general ledger activities. Ensure
monthly transactions are recorded using JD Edwards software. Job functions include, but not be limited to: work with
In country controllers and business units, perform monthly account reconciliation, prepare daily cash recs, monitor
inventory transactions and prepare complex reconciliations to sub-ledger, maintain back-up documentation, adhere to
Internal Control/SOX narratives and participate in special projects.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research and resolve issues on balance sheet accounts with dept and/or systems
- Ensure proper General Ledger coding, work with individuals to correct errors
- Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Inventory and cost (duties, freight, fees) related to distribution of merchandise and non-merchandise
account reconciliations
- Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) analytics and resolution of system errors or variances
- Working knowledge of GAAP and other local, state, federal accounting rules, policies and requirements
- Prepare Sales and Use tax for Florida and California, prepare annual 541L property report
- Other duties as assigned by management
REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:
Note: These areas of experience cover all aspects of the position. No one candidate is expected to meet all the qualifications below. However, preference will be given to the candidates based on how well they meet the following qualifications:
- BS in Accounting or Finance
- JD Edwards / Oracle experience (preferred)
- Proficient in Windows including Excel, Access and Word
- Minimum 5 years experience in the accounting field
- Bi-lingual Spanish required
- Strong understanding of Internal Controls / Sarbanes Oxley
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Self motivated and proactive solution seeker
