TITLE: Quality Control
DEPARTMENT: Merchandising
LOCATION: San Diego, CA
REPORTS TO: Senior Assistant Buyer - QC/IT/SOX Support
KEY INTERACTIONS: U.S. Assistant Buyers and Buyers, Accounting, Compliance
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-Time/Hourly, Regular based in San Diego, CA

PURPOSE:
To play a supporting role for the buying team.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Integrate PriceSmart philosophy and the Six Rights of Merchandising into the daily operation
  • Set up new vendors and remit numbers for the buying and accounting team in AS400 system
  • Set up new items in AS400 system for the buying team in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist assistant buyers with PO maintenance
  • Global maintenance changes for the buying team
  • Maintain a professional relationship with all PriceSmart employees

REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:

Note: These areas of experience cover all aspects of the position. No one candidate is expected to meet all the qualifications below. However, preference will be given to the candidates based on how well they meet the following qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment
  • Motivated to learn items, product categories and international logistics
  • Able to take direction and accomplish tasks with minimum supervision, accurately and meeting deadlines
  • Experience with AS/400, Strong Word & Excel skills required
  • Organized
  • Attention to Detail
  • Strong Follow-up skills
  • Works well under pressure
  • Adaptable in a change oriented environment
  • Bilingual Spanish/English Preferred
