PriceSmart's third warehouse club in Colombia, in the Menga area of Cali, opened on May 3, 2013. Cali is in western Colombia and is the third largest city in the country, after Bogotá and Medellín. PriceSmart's second warehouse club in Colombia, in the Cañas Gordas area of Cali, opened on October 19, 2012. Every January the Virgin Islands Daily News gives its readers the opportunity to cast votes for their favorite local businesses in a wide variety of categories. The readers voted PriceSmart St. Thomas as Best of 2013 in two categories: Home Appliances and Fresh Meat.

PriceSmart opened its second Colombian club on October 19th, 2012, in the Cañas Gordas area of the city of Cali. The opening was very successful both in attendance and sales. Adding to the excitement for PriceSmart's new members in Cali will be the opening of a second PriceSmart in Cali in the northern part of the city. A special recognition ceremony for PriceSmart on behalf of the Port Miami, Miami World Trade Center and Seaboard Marine was held of May 6th. PriceSmart was recognized as one of the top exporters at Port Miami and for contributions to the economic development in Miami Dade County. On hand to give PriceSmart the "Key to the City of Miami" was Miami Dade County Commissioner Rebeca Sosa; in addition the Deputy Director of the Port Miami, Juan Kuryla, led the ceremony. PriceSmart also received the "Americas International Trade Award" from the Miami World Trade Center from their President, Charlotte Gallogly, for the achievements the company has made in increasing two-way trade in the Western Hemisphere. PriceSmart has entered into an agreement to acquire approximately 16,038 square meters of property located in La Unión, Cartago, Costa Rica, upon which PriceSmart anticipates constructing its sixth Membership Warehouse Club in Costa Rica. La Unión is a compact canton (county) situated midway between the national capital of San José and the former colonial capital city of Cartago. PriceSmart currently anticipates opening the Cartago club in the summer 2013.

Aprender y Crecer and PriceSmart received the Guatemalan-American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Community Contribution Award in the categories of Grand Prize and Education. Aprender y Crecer supports 10 schools in Guatemala, with a population of 2000 students and 90 teachers. The sponsored schools are found in areas located near the PriceSmart Clubs in Zone 10, Miraflores and Fraijanes in order to support the communities closest to the Clubs. Click here for the full story.
